The absolute best bit is that the irritating sys tray popups are gone though I'm in danger of letting that lull me into a false sense of security. Home page has been hijacked and despite running Avast a couple of times at boot up and quarantining found threats I can still find the same problems if I run it again!! That appears to have done the trick though I still have doubts about the full cleanliness of my pc.
